Research people and accounts before you reach out (from Slack)

Prep for a call, personalise a cold email, and stay on top of movement in your accounts.

Who this is for: Sellers preparing for a call, drafting outreach, or tracking movement in target accounts.

Vieu combines your CRM data, LinkedIn activity, and live web search so you can prep in seconds.

This article covers three research moments: prep for a specific interaction, tracking job changes, and open-ended lookups.

Step 1: Walk in prepared

Before a call, ask Vieu to brief you on the person. You will get their current role, background, recent posts, likely talking points, and personal angles.

Try these prompts:

  • "Brief me on the CTO at Figma before my call"
  • "What awards has Ethan Shry won?"
  • "What do I have in common with [person] at [company]?"

Step 2: Draft personalised cold outreach:

Ask Vieu to pull someone's recent LinkedIn activity and use it as the basis for a personalised message. You will get the raw material: key themes, angles, and quotes, plus a draft you can send.

Try these prompts:

  • "Reaching out cold to [name] — take their recent posts and help me personalise the outreach"
  • "Draft a short version I can use on LinkedIn instead"

Tip: Cold outreach lands better when it references something specific and recent. Always ask Vieu to pull the person's posts first, then use those as the basis for your draft.

Step 3: Track job changes in your accounts

Movement creates opportunities: a new leader with budget to spend, a promoted champion, a rep you can poach a story from.

Ask Vieu who has moved in the accounts and roles that matter to you.

Try these prompts:

  • "What are the job changes in sales at Workato at director and above?"
  • "Who has joined Snowflake in the last 6 months in a revenue role?"
  • "Which of my past champions have changed companies recently?"

Step 4: Research anything

When Vieu does not already know something, it can look it up live. Use this for LinkedIn posts, funding news, product launches, and anything else you would normally open a browser for.Try these prompts:

  • "Show recent 4 LinkedIn posts by [name]"
  • "Tell me about Mercury — who do we know there?"
  • "What's the latest funding news for [company]?"

Tip Follow up in the same thread. Ask "what's the source for point 2?" or "give me a shorter version" and Vieu will build on what it just told you.
